Preview and tips for Market Rasen Racecourse's Friday’s six-race meeting

There’s more summer jumping at Market Rasen on Friday afternoon, with six races on the card; four over hurdles and two over fences.

With a pair of class three races included, this should be a typically competitive card for the Lincolnshire track.

Here is a preview of and tips brought to you by Betano, who provide all the latest horse racing odds.

We begin with an extended two-mile maiden hurdle (2.10).

We have one newcomer here; Joel Parkinson and Sue Smith’s Heights Lane, an unraced six-year-old whose belated debut is somewhat off-putting.

The others, all of whom have been seen at least once, offer little in terms of encouragement, but Champion Trainer Dan Skelton’s Edelak was good enough on the Flat and has had a wind operation prior to today, which should help.

Over the same trip, race two is a novices’ handicap hurdle (2.45).

Mark Walford’s Character Testing should be a contender, while Alex Hales’ Lord Of The Glance is a consistent type who looks competitive after an unlucky unseat last time at Plumpton.

Rebecca Curtis’ Bouquet De Paris could have a nice chance of placing on a new low mark too.

Race three is a two and three-quarter mile handicap chase (3.15).

Four of the seven runners were last seen running to places, so this should be a warm race.

Isle Of Sark was a good third of seven when a pound higher last time, while the marginally better ground might suit El Muchacho nicely, although he may need to come back down the handicap to win again.

Next is a three-mile handicap chase (3.50).

Emma Lavelle’s Classic King was a very close second last time at Stratford and, having been freshened up since then, he stands a good chance on the same mark.

Courtland has had wind surgery prior to this which, if it has had the desired effect, could help him regain significantly better form.

John McConnell travels Ira Hayes over from Ireland after a convincing win at Tramore last time, and he’ll be one to keep an eye on in the market.

The penultimate race is a handicap hurdle, just shy of three miles (4.20).

Huffin An A Puffin could improve on what is now his second run post wind surgery, but he is topweight here, making others more attractive.

Coumeenoole has finally hit his stride under Dan Skelton’s tutelage, but is significantly higher in the handicap now.

Ryebridge could be suited by this step up in trip, as a son of Diamond Boy, whose progeny tend to stay well.

Last of all is a two and a half mile conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle (4.52).

Nottodaybobo ran a good race at Newcastle when last seen, finishing third of 13.

Joshua Thompson rides again, which is a positive, and his mark remains the same.

De Deli Counter won last time out, but a sharp enough rise in the handicap may count him out, unless he keeps improving.
