House prices increased by 1.3% in North Lincolnshire in January, new figures show.

House prices increased by 1.3% in North Lincolnshire in January, new figures show.

The boost contributes to the longer-term trend, which has seen property prices in the area achieve 5% annual growth – though still the lowest in Yorkshire and the Humber.

The average North Lincolnshire house price in January was £168,546, Land Registry figures show – a 1.3% increase on December.

Over the month, the picture was better than that across Yorkshire and the Humber, where prices decreased 0.2%, and North Lincolnshire outperformed the 0.4% rise for the UK as a whole.

Over the last year, the average sale price of property in North Lincolnshire rose by £8,100 – putting the area bottom among Yorkshire and the Humber’s 21 local authorities with price data for annual growth.

The best annual growth in the region was in Craven, where property prices increased on average by 19%, to £269,000.

Owners of terraced houses saw the biggest improvement in property prices in North Lincolnshire in January – they increased 1.5%, to £118,824 on average. Over the last year, prices rose by 3.3%.

By comparison, former owner-occupiers paid £191,400 on average in January – 34.3% more than first-time buyers.

Buyers paid 13.4% less than the average price in Yorkshire and the Humber (£195,000) in January for a property in North Lincolnshire. Across Yorkshire and the Humber, property prices are lower than those across the UK, where the average cost £274,000.

The most expensive properties in Yorkshire and the Humber were in Harrogate – £319,000 on average, and 1.9 times as much as more than in North Lincolnshire. Harrogate properties cost 2.5 times as much as homes in Hull (£126,000 average), at the other end of the scale.

The highest property prices across the UK were in Kensington and Chelsea.
