Cranwell teen rider Jack Bell adds British titles to CV

Teenage motorcycle racer Jack Bell added two more British titles to an increasingly impressive CV in 2019.

Despite being just 16, Bell has won numerous championships over the last few years and this year became British Pit Bike champion at Scunthorpe Amateur Speedway, and won the British Flat Track Youth Senior Championship.

On his way to the titles, the Cranwell rider raced at Scunthorpe in September on the Honda CRF450 and the 140 Pit bike and remained unbeaten all day on both machines.

The following week he was at the Greenfield Dirt Track where he finished in first place overall, having dropped just three points over the course of the season.

After the final round at Scunthorpe was cancelled, Bell was declared British Pit Bike champion as well as the 2019 British Flat Track Youth Senior champion.

He said: “I had a great time on Sunday in the penultimate round of the flat track championship and am really pleased with the way the season went for me. I’m delighted to have won the title.

But it didn’t all go smoothly for the young rider.

“After winning my first two heats I suffered a really hard crash in race three in which I injured my shoulder and cut my finger,” he explained.

“I managed to race on and win my final race which gave me the overall win.

“The medics thought my shoulder was out of place and advised me to go to A and E, but luckily the X-ray was clear and the shoulder was just badly bruised.

“I’d like to thank everyone that helped me with this successful season, particularly my sponsors, and most of all thanks to my mum and dad for all their hard work.”

Bell was able to compete at Rye House and was first overall in the pit bike class and second on the 450.

It was his first time out at the circuit on the bigger bike, and with more experience he is hopeful of winning races next year.

October also heralded the start of the Mablethorpe Sand Racing season, and despite poor conditions, Bell won all his races on the Honda CRF250.

He also rode his CRF450 for the first time on the beach and completed the day in third.

The following week he was back at Mablethorpe for the second round of the winter series where he was the overall winner of the adult 250 class and second overall in the adult 450 section.

“I’m happy with these results and know what to work on for the next meeting,” he said.

“I’m still getting to grips with the bigger bike, but with more practice I will get there.”

The Remembrance Sunday meeting went much the same way for Bell as he finished joint-first on the 250, and second overall in the 450 class.

November 24 brought round one of the Winter Flat Track and Pit Bike Championships at Scunthorpe Amateur Speedway track where Bell did brilliantly well to take the win in both classes.

Bell opened December at the Champions Flat Track School where he finished third in the pro class.

The next day he was back to Mablethorpe where he was out in both classes, finishing second in the 250, and third in the 450 series.
