A cuppa and cake to celebrate VE Day in Doncaster

Patients and staff at a specialist male mental health rehabilitation and recovery unit in Balby got into the street party spirit to enjoy cuppa and cake at an event to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War Two.

The VE Day 2015 celebrations were held on Friday 8 May at Coral Lodge, which is run by Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH).

Ward Manager Jane Curtis said: “VE Day is a great celebration of peace, and an opportunity to pay tribute to the Second World War generation.

“Our event had a 1940s atmosphere with music and decorations, topped off with a delicious afternoon tea. We’re delighted to have played our own small part in marking this historic event in Doncaster.”
