A Derbyshire PCSO to appear before Chesterfield Magistrates’ on child assault case

A police community support officer is due to appear in court charged with assaulting an eight-year-old child near a school.

Derby-based PCSO Bakhtawar Rana is alleged to have committed the offence in the city last March and has been suspended from duty.

In a statement, the officer’s force said: “Derbyshire Constabulary can confirm that PCSO Bakhtawar Rana has been served with a summons to appear at Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court on September 29 to face a charge of common assault.

“The charge relates to an alleged assault on an eight-year-old child on

Reginald Street in Pear Tree in March 2015.”
