A flipping good time at Clumber

Fun was more than a flash in the pan at Clumber Park on Sunday, as people enjoyed a pancake themed day.

Visitors to the fun day enjoyed a variety of games and activities - all with a pancake theme.

From pancake flipping and cookery demonstrations, to an obstacle course and a trail around the Pleasure Grounds, there was something for everyone to get their teeth into.

Events and functions assistant, Miriam Kirby said: “This popular family event is always a huge success, and is a great excuse to fill up on some tasty pancakes.”

The pancake fun day took place two days before Shrove Tuesday, the last Tuesday before Lent.

The word shrove comes from the old English word shrive, meaning to confess all sins and pancakes were originally made and eaten on this day to use up all the rich ingredients before fasting for Lent.
