A trip down memory lane

Residents and staff at HC-One Swallownest Care Home in Sheffield enjoyed a fun day out at Clifton Park and Museum.

Residents particularly enjoyed the early 20th century displays and kitchen, which brought back many happy memories of their youth.

The kitchen had everything from 1930s decorations and foodstuffs to a large aga. Residents then baked cookies using only the tools available in kitchens over half a century ago, and enjoyed them as part of an afternoon tea.

Jill Kilgallen, home manager, said: “The residents had such a great time. They specially enjoyed the kitchen area, where they had to show HC-One staff how to use some of the utensils, which dated back to the 1930s.”

“The residents really enjoyed visiting Clifton Park and reminiscing about their youth. It was a wonderful day.”
