A1 staff back campaign

They join thousands of other men across Notts who have signed up to the campaign, which is raising awareness of domestic abuse towards women and girls and is part of the wider White Ribbon Campaign.

Don Spittlehouse, director of technical and housing services, said: “It’s important that the message of saying no to domestic abuse is spread as widely as possible.”

“By encouraging the male employees of A1 Housing to sign up to this campaign we hope to raise awareness of domestic abuse and the effect it has on women and girls.”

Nicki Richards, Bassetlaw Council’s domestic violence coordinator added: “The White Ribbon ‘Man Enough’ Campaign in Nottinghamshire show there are many men who are strongly opposed to violence against women.”

“During the campaign, which ran throughout November, we give information to A1 Housing and Bassetlaw Council staff as well as the wider public to remind people where they can get support.”

Statistics show that one in four women are affected by domestic abuse in their lifetime and each week at least two women are killed by their partner or ex-partner.

The ‘Man Enough’ campaign has set a target of collecting the signatures of over 10,000 men in Notts.
