Aboard the walking bus

Children at the Fun Club put their best feet forward for the start of their new walking bus last week.

The walking bus is a pilot scheme for children being collected from St John’s School at attend the the holiday, breakfast and after school club behind Norbridge Academy.

It aims to reduce the environmental impact of collecting the children and encourage them to blow away the cobwebs from school by getting exercise.

Fun Club manager Kelly Scott said: “The walking bus has been a huge success.

“The children were very excited and loved the walk back. They enjoyed looking at animals and things on their way back to Fun Club.”

“In the run up to the launch we did lots of activities with the children about road safety and got them involved in the project by drawing a route map and making a ‘walking buddy’ for them all to hold onto on their way back.”
