Achievements of pupils celebrated at ‘Dinnington Oscars’

High-achieving pupils at Dinnington High School were celebrated at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Students donned their glamorous outfits at the inaugural ‘Dinnington Oscars’ on Tuesday 23rd June.

Special guests on the night included Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Rotherham and former student Eliot Kennedy, a songwriter and record producer.

A school spokesman said: “This is a revamp of what used to be called the ‘Governor’s Awards’. It was a very prestigious night of celebration for the school at which we awarded students who have excelled over the past academic year.”

In total, there was over 60 awards presented to the students by the governors of the school, which included tutor group, faculty/subject, head of house and senior leadership awards.

“The event overall was a brilliant evening which allowed prestigious guests and the school to award and celebrate student’s achievements over the past academic year,” the school added.

“We believe that by celebrating in student’s successes, this will encourage the students to continue the great work they are currently doing.”

“We are very much looking forward to next year’s ‘Oscars’ where we can again celebrate the successes of Dinnington High Schools students.”
