All Blacks well beaten

Castle Donnington 32, Gainsborough 10

GAINSBOROUGH Rugby Club were well beaten by Castle Donnington in the County Vase competition on Saturday.

The All Blacks didn’t play anything like their best and their opponents took advantage of the weakness they could see in the Gainsborough side.

The All Blacks are not used to playing teams of this calibre on a regular basis and one week was not enough time for them to recover from their last big game.

Nevertheless, good preparation was put in and the start of the game reflected the All Blacks’ hopes and top scorer Sam Hurst scored the first try, converted by Shaun Parker.

Shaun increased the lead to 10 points when he converted a penalty, but Castle came back into the game and nibbled away at their visitors and slowly but surely scored the points to take the advantage.

Gainsborough tried their best but in the last 20 minutes the hosts were well on top and finished off the game looking the stronger side.

Let’s hope the team develops and improves and can go one step further in the Lincolnshire Cup.
