Along with the coffee and cakes at Epworth Youth Centre was a book stall, raffle, tombola and toys.

“A lot of preparation and planning went in to this, by my soul sister Sharon Thurman and myself,” said Max. “I wanted something special for Alexander, and again people were very generous. Cakes that were left were taken to a birthday party at the Queen’s Head and were snapped up there to help our effort.”

All kinds of superheroes appeared for the event. Max herself was dressed as Poison Ivy. She said: “The best thing was that no-one recognised me which was great. We made a fantastic amount at the end of the day and thanks to everyone who supported us.”
