Andy’s marathon charity effort

Andy, pictured right, strategic housing officer for West Lindsey District Council, will run the Milton Keynes Marathon on 29th April this year.

The 30-year-old said: “As a young teenager I suffered from Hodgkins Disease, now known as Hodgkins Lymphoma, which is a fairly common type of cancer.”

“I was treated at the Oxford John Radcliffe Hospital and met many other young people who were in the same or worse position than myself.”

“I will be attempting to complete the marathon in less than three hours 30 minutes.”

“For an amateur like me I will be pushing myself to the limit.”

Andy won his battle against cancer after an eight month course of mild chemotherapy in 1995.

Andy, of Lincoln, said: “The Teenage Cancer Trust provides specialist treatment for young people, many who are in the same position as I was, if not worse, to help them through life changing experiences such as this.”

Earlier this year Andy also lost his grandad to cancer, and knows he will be willing him on on 29th April.
