Recent Canadian film “Shattered Ground” will then be screened at 7:30pm.

“This film will show the effects that fracking has had on real people living in small rural communities like Shireoaks,” said David Larder, chairman of BAF.

Mr Larder said that the intention was to let people ask questions about the strong possibility that the area around the village would be subject to shale gas extraction. Swiss Petro-chemical giant company INEOS has bought a licence from the Government to explore the possibility of fracking for this fossil fuel.A t present no planning application has been submitted.

“We want to alert the people of the village to some of the problems which will arise if this company gets its way.” Mr Larder added.
