Appeal over Bawtry assault suspect

POLICE have appealed for information over a suspected assault in Bawtry which left a man with serious injuries.

The attack is believed to have happened at around 1.05am on Sunday 16th December.

A 20-year-old man was in Bawtry with two friends on a night. They walked over to a petrol station on the corner of Scot Lane and High Street and started talking to another group of people on the forecourt.

An unknown man is then believed to have pushed the 20-year-old in the chest, without any provocation, causing him to stumble backwards.

He then retaliated and pushed the man in the chest. The man then allegedly punched the 20-year-old in the face which resulted in him falling to the ground unconscious.

He sustained a broken nose and fractured eye socket, which required extensive surgery and a bone graft, and he is still suffering with eye and vision problems.

The man suspected of the alleged assault is believed to be in his early to mid 20s and approximately 6ft 8ins tall. He is of an average build and has long light brown hair almost to the shoulder, that was flicked back.
