April date set for Horncastle Neighbourhood Plan referendum

The proposed Neighbourhood Plan, which has been produced by local people, looks to guide development in the area over the next 15 years.

Normally the District Council would write planning policies for the District as a whole, but Neighbourhood Planning gives that power local people with the Neighbourhood Plan setting planning policies for Horncastle.

The proposed Neighbourhood Plan for Horncastle will be the first to reach the referendum stage in East Lindsey.

For the Plan to be passed, more than 50 per cent of those voting must vote in favour.

Residents of Horncastle will be asked to vote on a specific question, which is ‘Do you want East Lindsey District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Horncastle to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?’

Polling Stations will be at Horncastle’s Stanhope Hall and Community Centre, open between 7am and 10pm.

Those registered to receive a Postal Vote will receive it around March 31.

If you live in Horncastle but aren’t yet registered to vote, you must register by March 29 to be able to vote in this referendum.
