£1,500 worth of tools stolen from business in Ingoldmells

Thieves got away with £1,500 worth of tools in an burglary at an Ingoldmells hardware shop.

Staff at the neighbouring Tesco store raised 
the alarm after spotting smashed glass in the door of BEC (Ingoldmells) Ltd in Queensway at about 6.30am last Wednesday.

The tools were all Draper branded and Andrew Chapman, who owns the shop with his sister Lisa Phillips, is appealing to people to be wary of buying any cordless drills, jigsaws, angle grinders, sanders and multi-tool kits that come on the market locally.

He appealed for people to contact police with any information about the burglary or where the tools might be now.

He siad: “The burglary was quite a shock. Two people were caught on camera by the Tesco CCTV and 
there was blood on the shop floor so we are hopeful those responsible will be 
caught.

“It’s been quite a shock. You work hard and it’s 
something you could do without.”
