Are you Lovin' these plans? McDonalds and Starbucks set to feature in new A17/A16 service station

More than 65 jobs could be created as part of plans for a new roadside services at Sutterton roundabout submitted to Boston Borough Council.

The site, which will border the A16 and A17 and sit opposite the existing BP Garage, Burger King and Little Chef, will include a truck stop with 57 parking spaces, a ‘freestanding drive thru restaurant, a petrol filling station and associated infrastructure’.

A design and access statement submitted by Lindum Group, which has made the application, says: “The proposed development will make an important contribution to roadside service provision on what is a prominent and busy junction on the local road network.

“Both the A16 and A17 roadways are important routes in this area of Lincolnshire with the development providing a much needed facility for truck and car users alike.

“The scheme has been put together to help meet an identified shortfall of service provision for truck drivers in this area of the county and would provide a tangible benefit to the local economy alongside the road users the development has been designed to accommodate.”

The plan is for users to enter the 6.5 acre site from the A17 and exit back on to the A16.

The statement confirms that ‘end users are in place’ including McDonalds for the resturant, while the petrol station will operate under Shell Branding, with Starbucks operating the coffee shop.

The truck stop will be run by Trucking World which runs another site in Alconbury.

Supporting information about the McDonald’s brand says the company ‘is expected to employ more than 65 full and part-time staff, primarily from the local area’.

There are no details in the plans of other employment numbers.

Boston Borough Council will look at the plans (REF: B/17/0068) at a future planning committee meeting.
