Josie Dawes pictured above with husband Bob Dawes presented the latest £1,000 cheque to John Monk (MBE) from the The Meridale.

Money has already been spent on a brand new pool table for youngters in the area.

Now discussions are underway on how best to use the rest of the funds raised for the centre.

Josie has always been a keen supporter of The Meridale and has been raising the funds with a number of tomobolas and raffles, held locally.

John Monk from The Meridale said: “We’ve had the pool table for years, it was an old arcade one and we really need a new one.

“So I asked Josie if she would help raise us some money.

“It’s a fantastic piece of equipment and the children are loving the new table.

“It’s the most expensive piece of equipment we have been able to buy to date.

“We are so grateful to Josie for all the fundraising she does for us and cannot thank her enough.”

Josie said: “I would just like to say a big thank to everyone who has give me donations for my raffles and tombola’s. Also I would like to thank everyone who comes along and supports them.

“It’s been great raising funds for The Meridale as I have always enjoyed supporting the local children who use the faiclity.”
