Back in the groove!

The 1812 Club became a hugely popular nightspot in Dinnington for teenage music fans in the late 60s and early 70s.

Revellers met for their first reunion back in 2009 and since then a regular meet is becoming tradition - and this year was no different.

This year’s event was dedicated to the memory of local man Pete ‘Elf’ Ellis.

DJ Mick Needham said: “It was great and exceeded all expectations.”

“We gave a good night and remembered Elf.”

“We’re hoping to run another one next year, again for local good causes.”

The group started at the village’s youth club in 1968 before moving to the Middleton Institute on Barleycroft Lane, and then the Lyric.

The regular team behind the classic nights were reunited behind the decks too, with Mick being joined by fellow regular DJ Mick Wright and Nigel Ginnever, who was the main organiser of the 1812 nights.

The event raised a fantastic £355 - £255 of which was given to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and £100 went to the junior fishing section at D&P Fishing Tackle, in Dinnington.
