Band’s triumph at festival

Maltby Miners’ Welfare Band had a successful time at the recent Whiston Festival of Brass. The band, who were sponsored at the event by Chantry Brewery, retained the 4th section trophy for the second year running. Organiser Robert Brown, who presented the trophy, said: “The winning combination of Maltby MW Band and the award winning Real Ale Brewery fulfills the ethos and aims of the Whiston Festival of Brass.” Sean Page of Chantry Brewery, said: “We were delighted to sponsor a winning band, real ale and brass bands - the perfect successful marriage.”
