Bassetlaw: Hospital Trust in top two for vaccinating frontline workers

For the period 1st September to 31st October 2014, 76 per cent of its 4,090 staff involved in direct patient care had their vaccine.

Ruth Cooper, deputy director of HR Services, said: “This is a brilliant achievement which once again shows our determination to keep our patients safe and our staff healthy.”

“We have a fantastic flu fighter team who have been working non-stop since the beginning of September to vaccinate over 3,000 healthcare workers.”

“It is certainly been worth it to help reduce the impact of the flu virus both in our organisation and in the communities we serve.”

“The team have worked extremely hard providing the flu vaccinations to doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers on the wards and in patient areas, including special sessions for weekend workers and those out in the community.”

The national NHS Flu Fighter campaign is run by NHS Employers and aims to raise awareness about the benefits of flu vaccination and to continue increasing staff vaccinations until they become routine practice for all staff, helping to stop flu in its tracks.

People aged 65 and over, pregnant women, anyone with diabetes, chest or heart conditions and others in high-risk groups can get their vaccination for free at their local GP surgery.
