To implement a successful turnaround, the organisation has been reviewing its ways of working to develop a robust cost-saving strategy.

Twelve months ago, the Trust found itself with a deficit of £37 million after uncovering significant financial misreporting to the board.

Lead by the director of Strategy and Improvement, Dawn Jarvis, the team came together in January 2016 and is made up of six ‘core’ members.

The team, with support from colleagues across the Trust, have developed and implemented 12 workstreams, with individual actions and saving targets to achieve.

Working with all levels of staff across the Trust, these plans are on track and are expected to deliver savings to the tune of £11 million by the end of the financial year.

Dawn Jarvis said: “I’m delighted for the team to have been nominated for this award.

“Since we came together in January of this year, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that we hit saving targets as set by NHS Improvement.

“It’s been an interesting year for the Trust and while it has been challenging, it has reaffirmed what a special team we have at the Trust.

“I’m regularly and routinely astonished by the level of commitment every staff member shows each and every day and I want to say thank you to all of my colleagues across the Trust for their dedication to delivering what is proving to be a successful turnaround.”
