The move comes as Theresa May refused yesterday (Monday 2nd March 2015) in Parliament to deny that there have been large cuts to the social media monitoring unit at the counter-terrorism squad in Scotland Yard.

Mr Mann said: “I have written to Theresa May and the Metropolitan Police Commissioner today to urge them to prioritise counter-terrorism and ensure that budget cuts do not come at the price of the public’s safety.”

“At this time of serious concern over home-grown terrorism the Home Secretary should immediately restore the budget available to counter-terrorism forces in the UK.”
