Households that qualify include low income pensioners, disadvantaged families with children or those with a disability.

John Mann MP is calling on people to get additional help with their energy bills.

“A cold winter is ahead of us, and many people who are elderly or on low incomes may not know where to turn for help and advice on keeping their homes warm,” he said.

“In recent weeks we have heard disturbing stories of local deaths in winter, and with energy bills continuing to rise I have decided to act.”

“I am publicising this helpline in the hope that vulnerable people who are worried about their energy bills this winter will be able to get additional assistance.”

“In the long term, however, we cannot allow energy bills to continue to rise.”

Bassetlaw residents can call Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99 to see if they are eligible for assistance.

Last winter the Home Heat Helpline assisted more than 42,000 people across Britain with approximately £250 energy savings per household.
