Bassetlaw: Proud day for Action Centre after receiving Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service

The Bassetlaw Action Centre in Retford is one of the 111 UK volunteering groups to be granted this year’s Queen’s Award for voluntary service.

Lord-Lieutenant for Notts, Sir John Peace, officially presented the award Lynn Tupling, chief executive and Michael Browne, chair of the Action Centre, on Friday 5th September.

The prestigious award is given to groups around the UK for outstanding work carried out in their local communities.

Lynn Tupling said: “I am very proud of the work we do at Bassetlaw Action Centre which makes a real difference to the lives of older and vulnerable people across North Notts.”

“This award is very special at is acknowledges the contribution of thousands of hours of effort made by every single one of all our staff and volunteers past and present.”

“This award recognises our value to society our professional approach, our contribution to the community and our dedicated hard work.”

“I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of our organisation,” she added.

The Queen’s Award for voluntary service was created by the Queen to mark the occasion of her Golden Jubilee in 2002. Winners of this year’s award were selected from 300 nominations.

The Bassetlaw Action Centre will receive a certificate signed by the Queen and a commemorative piece of crystal for display at its headquarters in Retford.
