After a successful year which has seen membership rise by 17 per cent and a record number of candidates fielded at the county elections, the local party is looking forward to this May’s European Parliament and Bassetlaw District Council Elections.

Mark Hunter was elected chairman of the local party for the coming year, with Leon Duveen as vice-chairman, Peter Thompson as treasurer and Jennie Coggles as secretary.

Issan Ghazni, number two on the East Midlands Liberal Democrat list for the European Elections, and Tony Rogers, chairman of the East Midlands Liberal Democrat and former Parliamentary candidate in Totnes & Chesterfield also both spoke at the meeting.
