Viewers were asked to donate toys in Toys R Us for the Toy Box appeal throughout mid November. More than 6,000 toys were donated as a result.

Helen Eshelby, fundraising and events co-ordinator for Bassetlaw Hospice, said: “The toys have been used to help raise funds for the hospice we have given some to local large companies running Christmas raffles on our behalf and the rest have made up a toy stall in the hospice’s day patient unit giving our patients who are too ill to go Christmas shopping the opportunity to purchase gifts for their families.”

“We are extremely grateful to all the local people who donated to the Doncaster Toys ‘R’ Us store for their generosity.”

The Toy Box appeal is linked to ITV’s Text Santa. Help the Hospices is one of six chosen charities set to benefit from Text Santa and Toys R Us have agreed that for every toy donated, they will donate £1 to the appeal.
