Since his wife Michelle died from Alzheimer’s at the age of 44 in 2013, Steve Boryszczuk has taken part in a number of charity treks in her memory.

This time he is heading to Bhutan and he will be accompanied by Tony Butler from Middle Rasen.

“This is one of the places Michelle wanted to go,” said Steve.

“This is the last of the four I promised Michelle I would do , so it will be the last one in her memory and I will be taking a plaque to leave there, like I have done before.

“It is good to have Tony coming along this time - we are looking forward to it.”

The trek will take place in October and will see the pair travel 160 kilometres in 10 days, reaching 4,200 metres above sea level at the highest point.

“It is not as high as the Peru trek, but it will still be challenging,” added Steve.

This time round, Steve will be raising money for Alzheimer’s Research and has set himself a target of £5,000. To help get to the target, a number of fundraising events have been arranged.

There will be collections at the Brigg and Woodthorpe Garden Centres, and Steve and Tony, who runs Exotic Animal and Owl Encounters, will be at the Welton Gala and Rase Park Gala in July.

Tony will also be raising money for charity, but his good cause is the Children’s Hospital Charity (Sheffield Children’s Hospital).

He said: “I met some of the children from the hospital when I worked at a wildlife park; many had been in hospital for months.

“Their positive attitude and determination inspired me to stop thinking about my minor day to day problems and get up and do something to support children who really need and deserve help.”

Tony’s target is also £5,000.
