Big Mac branch breaks records

The Beaumont Street premises was deluged with customers when it threw open its doors on Wednesday 23rd May.

Branch franchisee Bob Meadowcroft, who also owns McDonald’s in Scunthorpe and Worksop, said he was delighted with Gainsborough’s success story which has brought new jobs and regeneration to town.

“I’m delighted at how well the restaurant has been received by the local community,” he said.

“We’re providing a comfortable space for families to enjoy good quality, affordable meals and with it brings more than £1m of investment into the local community and 90 new jobs.”

Bob added the restaurant has been very busy every day since the opening and thanked everyone for their support so far.

“Our first customer was a local man called Dennis Burge who had followed the build for several weeks and even helped the crew cut the ribbon at the launch,” he said.

“We have had some great feedback from customers about the restaurant and our staff, whose commitment and hard work have been key to a successful launch.”

Gainsborough resident Dennis Burge said he thinks the new McDonalds is a great asset to the town.

“The food is tasty and great value, and I absolutely love their milkshakes - they are so thick and creamy,” he said.

“I think this is just what the town has needed and it’s really great to see so many young people enjoying themselves there.”

He added: “There’s very little for young people to do in Gainsborough and here they have somewhere pleasant and central where they can hang out.”

“It’s also got free Wi-Fi, so it’s really keeping up-to-date with modern times, and it’s great to see the restaurant doing so well.”

A spokesman for West Lindsey Council said the authority welcomed the new development to Gainsborough.

“It has made a positive contribution to the street-scene and regenerated a vacant and derelict site on a key route through the town as well as providing new jobs for the local community,” she said.

“It is a positive step in the regeneration of the town and shows that Gainsborough is open for business, despite these challenging times.”
