Big wins for Ferry and Melrose sides
Beckingham’s flirtation with the top of the Gainsborough Bowls league ended in dramatic style with a crushing home defeat to Owston Ferry 10 – 0 and 44 shots.
Three rinks were fairly close but the visiting ring of Paul Rowen, Jim Frow, and Wilf Boothman won 33-5 to secure the result. Scotter 1 had a sit-out and both Melrose SSC and Marshall Sports won easily to close up.
Melrose won 8-2 (84-57) at Marton GB who gave the visitors some initial problems but faded away badly on two rinks so that the other two rinks were fighting for scraps.
Marshall A won 8-2 (103-55) at Rose A.
Misterton visited out of form Scotter 2 and left as 6-4 (88-71) winners to leave the Scotter side bottom.
