Bircotes: Awareness week events dedicated to tragic Elysia Pearce

Event organiser at Doncaster’s Cask Corner, Julie Buckley, has dedicated all the events to Elysia.

The 20-year-old, who suffered from borderline personality disorder, was found dead in Bircotes Woods on Valentine’s Day.

Julie said: “I have a great deal of respect for all people involved in the treatment of mental health.”

“My hope is to raise awareness of the debilitating effect all forms of mental health issues have on people by putting on various events accompanied by stalls hosted by various charities and organisations who will be there to offer help and advice.”

“I’m dedicating this week to a beautiful young lady Elysia Pearce, and to the countless people I have met who all are dealing with one demon or another.”

“Let’s lift the taboo on mental health and help people to help themselves by talking about it and getting help,” she added.

All the events taking place are free.

Cask Corner will be open until 2am every day.

Following Elysia’s death, her mum Helen Robinson, called for for more support for those with mental health problems.

On the night she died, Elysia fled the family home and worried Helen called Notts Police, who sent out a helicopter to search for her.

Helen says she believes her daughter could have been saved if she had received the treatment she needed.
