Bishop of Lincoln’s prayers go out to the family and friends of Carly Lovett who was killed in Tunisia

The Bishop of Lincoln, the Rt Revd Christopher Lowson, has released a statement following the recent attacks in Tunisia, Kuwait and France.

The Bishop of Lincoln said: “The attacks in Tunisia, Kuwait and France in recent days have appalled and sickened us all.”

“We have in Lincolnshire, been touched by the death in Tunisia of Carly Lovett, and my sincere condolences and prayers go out to her family and friends. As a parent of young adult children, I understand how painful this must be for those who love Carly.”

“These are atrocities perpetrated by a tiny minority who have a very warped and horrifically misguided view of what it means to be a Muslim, particularly during the month of Ramadan. The teaching of the Christian faith is that love is stronger than evil, and while proper justice is appropriate, revenge and scapegoating are not.”

Churches in Gainsborough and across the diocese have held Carly and her family and friends in their prayers, and are available to those who need support during an incredibly difficult time.”
