The club has grown from 500 to 1,500, with membership £2.50 per year for adults and £1 a year for children.

Christmas parties were held in the village hall, one for members over 55 and one for families and children, and both were highly successful.

Outings planned in the next two months are to Hodstock Priory on Friday, February 26, and to Beverley and its Minster on Friday, March 18.

Community club members pay £6 and non-members £9 for each trip; booking forms are in the latest edition of Roundabout available in local shops, where membership forms are also available.

The village is also looking at the possible foundation of a luncheon club, while the Friends of Barnetby School are holding a family bingo evening at the school on January 29.

One initiative by the club is to install defibrillators, obtained through the British Heart Foundation, at several new points in the village. One already exists outside the medical centre.
