Boston headteachers to team up to help continue exams success

The joint message is part of a new initiative which all the schools have gone behind called The Boston Project.

Early analysis shows an improving performance in key measures at local schools, and the headteachers have now decided to team up to ensure that trend continues.

In a joint statement, they say: “The headteachers from every secondary school in the Boston area are pleased to send a joint congratulatory message to every learner who has recently received their exam results.

“Whether at GCSE, Vocational or at A-Level, students and staff across the schools have all worked incredibly hard to achieve their results and we all wish them well in their future educational and career choices.”

Initial local analysis indicates an improving trend on the key DFE measure known as the ‘Standard Pass at Grade 4 or above in English and Maths’, which is currently at 52.4% across the Boston schools, the statement says.

That indicates an improvement of 3.9% over the 2017 figure.

Attainment across students' best 8 subjects has also improved by 2.8% on 2017.

“This is a fantastic achievement considering the changes to a wider range of GCSE subjects this year,” the statements says.

“The schools in the area are committed to working together on a new initiative known as The Boston Project in order to improve outcomes, at every level for all learners.”

Those schools are Boston Grammar School, Boston High School, Haven High Academy, Giles Academy, Thomas Cowley High School, Thomas Middlecott Academy, William Lovell Church of England Academy

The project, which is in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council, will see the schools share best practice “with a focus on achieving the highest possible educational standards across the schools”.

Heather Sandy, chief officer for education at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “We're delighted that the schools in Boston are working together on this project for the pupils of Boston and excited about the opportunities this collaborative approach will bring.”
