Lincoln comes in fifth with 7.3 per 100,000 people.

When placed in order of cases of homicides in the 12 months up to and including September 2015, Boston appears 12th in the list with 3.0 homicides per 100,000 people, with the City of London topping the statistics having 12.4 homicides per 100,000.

Following the release of the figures Lincolnshire Police Supt Paul Timmmins said: “Using population data to compare crime rates will inevitably not provide the truest national picture but we do acknowledge that there have been a number of tragic incidents in Boston in recent years.

“In most cases, arrests, charges and convictions followed swiftly and Lincolnshire remains a low crime county with one of the lowest recorded rates for violent crime in the country.”
