Breaking news: LIVES '˜devastated' by tragic death of Horncastle pensioner

Officials at LIVES say they are '˜devastated' by the death of the wife of one of their former trustees in a tragic accident.

Sybil Bush (89) was fatally injured in an incident in Stanhope Road, Horncastle, last Sunday after a collision with a car being driven by her husband Ken.

The News revealed that Mr Bush is a highly respected figure at LIVES whose headquarters are in Horncastle.

Nikki Silver, chief executive officer at LIVES, said: “Mr Bush was a trustee of LIVES for over 30 years and his work as an ambassador was fundamental to our development and growth.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic circumstances in which Ken lost his wife.”

Ms Silver went on to reveal that responders from LIVES attended the scene of the incident.

She added: “LIVES was on the scene within five minutes of the incident and worked to provide advanced critical care to Mrs Bush.

“We are proud we were able to be there for Ken in this moment, working alongside colleagues from EMAS and Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance to provide the highest quality care possible.

“We are devastated by this loss, our thoughts are with Ken and his family at this time.”

Tributes have also started to arrive from many other individuals and organisations.

According to unconfirmed reports, Mrs Bush was struck by the couple’s Nissan car which her husband was reversing out of a driveway.

Police are not confirming any details and stress investigations are continuing.

They have said Mrs Bush was a pedestrian and that officers have spoken to the driver of the vehicle involved.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Local residents have described Mr and Mrs Bush as a ‘lovely couple’ and say the incident was a tragedy for the family and the entire town.
