BREAKING: Residents in Bircotes evacuated after ‘suspect device’ found at property

Residents in Bircotes were evacuated from their homes and schools were warned this morning after a ‘suspect device’ was found at a property.

People living nearby at the unnamed location were asked to vacate their properties and schools were contacted to request pupils stay indoors.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “This item has now been examined and is not dangerous so the cordons have been lifted and people have returned to their homes. Local schools have also been made aware.

“We’d like to thank everyone in the area for their patience this morning.”
