Brother's marathon run for cancer cause

Ian Johnson, of Fairprice Furnishings, will be taking part in the 26.2-mile challenge in Boston, Lincolnshire, on April 17, in support of Breast Cancer Now – the UK’s largest breast cancer charity.

Of his inspiration, he said: “My youngest sister Joanne was diagnosed with lobular breast cancer August 2014. She has undergone surgery, endured six months of chemotherapy plus three weeks of radiotherapy at Lincoln County hospital. Despite this intensive and aggressive treatment she still required a double mastectomy. Joanne is 44, married to Dan and they have two beautiful young girls.

“Joanne was born prematurely (with twin Michael) weighing in at a lightweight 3lbs. The local priest christened Joanne in her incubator as she was not expected to survive – she did and continues to battle her way through life whatever the challenges.”

This is merely Ian’s latest fundraiser for the battle against cancer, with recent efforts including a Tour de France 120-mile bike ride and climbing the Boston Stump 200 times (the equivalent to the height of Everest).
