Building society collects food for Louth Community Larder

The Louth branch of Norwich & Peterborough Building Society (N&P) swapped its day to day collections for savings accounts to collections of items in aid of local charities.Throughout December, the branch collected non-perishable food items for Louth Community Larder, part of Louth Trinity Church, amassing a large collection of goods to be donated to those in need in time for the festive period.

On the back of the success of the collection and the branch’s relationship with local charities the team are now acting as a drop-off point for different items. Instead of food, the branch are collecting clothing and blankets that will be redistributed to those most in need.

The collection is part of ‘Operation Safe Winter’ that will collect blankets, clothes, rucksacks and other items which can be used to help people keep warm throughout winter.

The team at the branch on Mercer Row started the collection at the end of the year and due to the high number of donations and support from customers and members of the public are hoping to keep it going until February.

Claire Ravenscroft, manager of N&P’s Louth branch said: “We are proud to be able to offer our branch premises as a drop-off point and to do our part to try and aid those most in need in our local area.

“We have been so happy to see just how many of our customers and residents of the town have wanted to add to the collection and we hope they will continue to help us as we push on to collect even more.”

Anybody wishing to make a donation to the collection at the Louth branch of N&P can call in and speak to a member of the team between 9am and 5pm, from Monday to Friday.
