Self-employed Andrew Baker, 30, runs businesses Aquamist and JETADRIVE in the Boston area.
He recently posted on Facebook offering to ‘help the community’ and give the memorial a soft wash and jet wash ‘for the veterns and family and friends to see their loved ones’ names’.

Mr Baker has offered to clean the stone work up to the crown and the floor around the memorial – however he will not be cleaning the names due to the danger of damaging them with certain chemicals.
A spokesman for the council said: “We have met with Mr Baker and, subject to receiving some additional information about the cleaning process, we have accepted his generous offer to clean the war memorial.”
The work is set to start mid-March.
