Last October, Alastair Good (27) underwent a gastric by-pass to reduce his weight from 27st. However, three weeks later, he developed stomach pains, liver, heart, lung and kidney failure, as well as internal bleeding.

He was taken to Scunthorpe Hospital before being transferred to Sheffield Hospital, where he underwent an immediate operation.

He was then on life-support for four days in the Critical Care Unit, spending a further ten days in the hospital.

Alastair is now making steady progress since losing eight and a half stone and his brother Ashley decided to organise the bike ride to raise money for the care given to Alastair in the Critical Care Unit.

Alastair said: “I am very grateful for what Scunthorpe Hospital did for me when they acted so quickly, transferring me to Sheffield where they saved my life. Thanks to all the sponsors and everyone who helped on the ride.”
