The group, SOS Pilgrim - Call to Action, which is fighting against cuts to the level of services at the paediatric unit and maternity unit at the hospital, teamed up with Sara Singleton from Usborne books to raise cash to buy them.The online pledges saw more than £70 raised to buy books for the unit.Rachel Bray, one of the campaigners, said: “We are keen as a group to let people know that there are services still available at Pilgrim, should your child be poorly, even under the interim model. “SOS Pilgrim - Call to Action, joined up with Sarah, and through donations from the public we were able to deliver over 60 books to the Paediatric Assessment Unit at Pilgrim for children to use whilst they stay there. The support we have is overwhelming. People are always so kind and generous.”
