“It was a cold night, but luckily dry,” said team member Alison Richards.

“Best of all we have exceeded all fundraising targets.

“We set out to raise £1,000 but the new figure raised is £4000 and we are absolutely delighted with this – it is way beyond our hopes.”

Joining Alison on the 26.2-mile walk were Dr Therese Nation, dispensary staff Amanda Trumpton, Helen Reid and Julia Weeks, practice nurse Heidi Watson and fellow receptionists Louise Parkinson and Sue Felstead-Solley, all dressed in brightly coloured and decorated bras

The money raised will go to Walk the Walk, which works with charities big and small involved with breast cancer and grants funds to where they know it will make the most difference.

Their policy is to support research and also to support those that have cancer now.

“Individually, we are all passionate about this cause and joined together because we would like to make a difference,” added Alison.

“We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported us for their generosity.”
