Car stolen following assault

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a motorist was pushed to the ground by a thief who then stole his car.

At around 9.45pm on Thursday 11th August, the 31-year-old victim from Rotherham parked his black Volkswagen Golf at an address on Wesley Ave, Swallownest.

As he got out of the vehicle, an unknown male approached him and pushed him to the ground, before stealing his keys and driving away in the car. The car has not been found.

The victim was not injured and the investigating officer is now appealing for anyone who saw what happened that evening, or anyone with information about the incident, to contact South Yorkshire Police.

Det Con Gary Luckock said: “This incident happened on a residential street and I would like to speak to anyone who may have been looking out of their windows that evening and saw either someone acting suspiciously, or witnessed the incident as it happened.”

“The black VW Golf has not yet been recovered and if anyone has any information as to where this 04 plate vehicle is, or thinks they know who may have taken it, please call us straight away.”
