Carlton-in-Lindrick: Children’s play park opens after £45k revamp

The major transformation of Lime Tree Park, just off Lime Tree Avenue, has included new modern play equipment being installed designed for children of all ages and disabilities.

The improvements were carried out as part of Notts County Council’s Supporting Local Communities Scheme (SLC), in partnership with Bassetlaw District Council.

Chairman of Notts County Council, Coun Sybil Fielding, cut the ribbon on Wednesday, September 30 with children from Kingston Park School and parents in attendance at the official opening.

Coun Jim Creamer, chairman of the county council’s environment and sustainability committee, said: “The Supporting Local Communities fund is an exciting opportunity for local people to make a real difference in their community.

“The previous LIS fund helped deliver hundreds of worthwhile schemes throughout the county and this is continuing, albeit on a smaller scale, with the Supporting Local Communities fund.

He added: “And I am particularly pleased that this financial year we are on course to deliver 25 projects, compared with 12 last year.”

Youngsters will now be able to take advantage of the state-of-the-art equipment at the park, which includes: Anti-wrap cradle swing for toddlers; anti-wrap flat swing for juniors; Lottery play panel; Speed gyro; Four-seat spring seesaw and a Diabolo multi-play unit.

There is also a balance trail and stepping heads to test children’s co-ordination skills, a climbing hut with seating and shelter and “talk tubes” for social play.
