The Grey Horses has a beer brewed exclusively for them by the Welbeck Abbey Brewery.

Carlton Knight is a 3.8% beer, named after a medieval figure that was found in the village eight years ago.

There are always at least two or three other real ales available, usually from local breweries .

CAMRA North Notts branch chairman Steve Bownes said The Grey Horses is a ‘real credit’ to ale.

“In the two years that Chris and Sally have been in running the pub, they have done a lot to promote real ale and the beer they sell is always in excellent condition,” he said.

Chris said they were ‘absolutely made up’ to be recognised for the work they do at the pub.

“The award is accepted on behalf of the staff for the work that they have put in over the last 12 months,” he said.

The biggest thank you goes to our customers because if they didn’t come here and drink what we were serving, it wouldn’t be as good as it is.”
