Carnival back in Dinnington

A carnival is set to return to Dinnington later this year.

The family fun packed day will be coming to the area on 30th June and will include stalls, entertainment and a fair.

It will kick off with a walking parade of local groups, schools and charities from the Dinnington Resource Centre.

Organisers are hosting a series of events to help raise the remaining £1,000 needed to put on the carnival.

On the first Saturday of every month, the next on 7th April, there will be a jumble sale at the Salvation Army hut on Leicester Road from 10am. All items are 50p.

There will also be a variety show at the Lyric Theatre on 5th May, featuring acts such as SDK, zubaidah Belly Dance, singer Siobhan Morley and dancer Lauren Moorhouse.

Tickets are £3 each and family tickets are £10.

Acts are also being sought to perform on the carnival’s main stage and can book a slot by emailing Tracey Lee at [email protected] or by calling 01909 568870.

Organisers are also appealing for people to help run the carnival, such as litter pickers, car park attendants, marshalls for the walking parade and others to help set up and clean away the event.

The carnival committee meets every Monday at 7pm at the UKE and anyone wanting to help should pop along and see them.
