Chalk Stream fun for youngsters in Lincolnshire

The Lincolnshire Chalk Streams Project is running a free story-telling and stream dipping event for families during June half term, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

On Wednesday June 1 from 10am-1pm, there will be story-telling and stream dipping morning for families at ‘Classroom in the Woods’ near Ashby cum Fenby. Children will be enthralled by Julia Donaldson’s popular tale of ‘The Snail and the Whale,’ featuring the snail and his adventures with other water creatures told by the brilliant Rhubarb Theatre.

This will be followed by crafts, then a short walk to stream dip for water creatures at the beautiful Waithe beck.

This event will be led by Will Bartle, Lincolnshire Chalk Streams Project monitoring officer, who said: ‘Children will be captivated by Rhubarb Theatre’s version of the much-loved tale of ‘The Snail and the Whale’, and they’ll then be able to discover some of the fascinating wildlife that lives in chalk streams.”

Booking is essential as spaces are limited.
