Charity celebrates merger

Representatives from across the county, including Mandy Sowerby, area manager for Sleaford, attended the event.

Earlier this year, a decision was taken to merge the individual branches into one big charity.

Chief executive Tracey Ruddock said the move to streamline the charity had resulted in improvements for both volunteers and the people it serves.

“This merger has proved great news for the people of Lincolnshire,” she said.

“Our new single charity has generated significant financial savings by working more efficiently and reducing duplication of tasks, while supporting even more local families and children in need of help.”

The launch event, held at the Lincoln Hotel, with attendees including government officials, local dignitaries, and health professionals.

Delegates were treated to inspirational stories and speeches from volunteers and family support co-ordinators.

Speakers explained the positive impact the charity has on families who are in need of their support, and how Home-Start Lincolnshire continues to change lives for the better.

Emma Haisman, community liaison officer, said: “We had a super day – there was a great buzz in the packed room.

“It was fantastic to have so much interest in our work from within the county and beyond from local MEPs, mayors, health professionals, teachers, fellow practitioners and supporters.”

Founded in 1984, the charity offers support for families with at least one child of primary school age.

Early intervention is one of the key principles of Home-Start Lincolnshire, which believes supporting parents at an early stage provides foundations and support for vulnerable children.

The merger means the charity is now classed as one of the largest local family support organisations, with more than 500 volunteers providing help and advice to families.

Tracey Ruddock said: “Home-Start throughout Lincolnshire has an excellent track record in improving people’s lives.

“Our staff and volunteers are now making an even bigger difference in people’s lives throughout the county.”
